How to dismantle Toshiba Satellite A70
Here are a few known issues with this model:
1. The heatsink easily gets clogged with dust and lint and because of that the laptop may overheat and shut down without any warning.
2. Overtime the power jack might loose connection with the motherboard and because of that the laptop stops charging the battery or switches between the AC and battery power on its own. To fix the problem you'll have to resolder or replace the power jack.
3. The top cover assembly might be improperly grounded and because of that the laptop freezes or shuts down when you touch the speakers or touchpad. In this case you'll have to replace or modify the top cover.

How to repair HP DV9000 screen hinges
But probably could work for other models.
step 1
of the laptop screen at the right, center & left side using the mini flat head
screwdriver. Then remove the 3 screws located under the rubber covers.
step 2
careful not to force the plastic for it may crack! I would start from the
left hinge corner which is probably open, working clockwise with the little
flat head screwdriver prying it apart every inch or so. You may also have
to remove the bottom right andl eft rubber screw covers and remove
those screws as well to free the bezel.
step 3
and assembly points are damaged DUE TO POOR CONSTRUCTION BY
THE MANUFACTURER'S DESIGN!!!
step 4
connecting to the LCD screen. Now take notice how much space is between
the bottom of the LCD screen and the left hinge assembly. For this is one
of the things that can make this repair render your efforts useless when
you try to reassemble! There is only about 1/16" clearance.
step 5
top cover mounting points are. Try to unscrew the 4 little phillips head
screws from the hinge (only 3 if you took out the one that was covered
by the rubber screw cover already) If the screws turn and do not come
loose the mounting points on the LCD cover have cracked so just leave
them in for now.
step 6
not to cause any further trauma. If your hinge is to far gone and you
cant move it, you will have to force the hinge with pliers when you remove
it during the next step.
step 7
towards the closed position. You may need to use pliers on the hinge to
rotate it because the torque required is significant and is partially the
reason your laptop hinge is broken to begin with. Now that it is in the
almost closed position move the pliers to the outside and work the hinge
out from the connection point on the base of the unit. It may be tight
so keep at it until you pull it free but trying to not break the arm off
the hinge. Remove off the screws and brass inset fasteners and put
into parts container.
step 8
if you have one or clamp a vise grip to the egde of the bracket, with
another large pliers start the bend, With a hammer bang the bend flat.
*This is a critical step! The bend must take shape with the hinge! Dont
over bend or you will weaken the strength. Also make sure you bend
the hinge in the right direction!
step 9
I didnt do this but I recommend that you superglue the join on the arm
so it will not move and in its original position so when you go to put it
back together with the LCD screen it sits correctly in the chassis.
Overlay the hinge with your new support bracket. Make marks with
black permanent marker where you need to grind out so it overlays
the hinge correctly that the bracket sits on top of the hinge. You need
to cut the length on the front-face part of the bracket so you dont
cover the 3rd hole on the hinge. (I cut it off at the step point on the
hinge.) Use either the bench vise or the vise grip to hold bracket and
grid it. I cant express enough how important that you shape and grind
the bracket exactly to the shape of the original hinge. I didnt grind
the arm until I was into the next step.
step 10
and work quickly so it dont set or you will not get the proper bonding
strength) Smear a good amount of epoxy onto the hinge at the contact
points and clamp without throwing off the shape of the hinge. Use about
3 to 4 mini clamps. Allow about 10 minutes for the epoxy to set. If you
are the patient type let it sit longer... cant hurt.
step 11
a center punch mark 2-3 points where you will drill for your pop rivots in
the center of the arm. (I used 1/8" aluminum so I only put 2, I would
or rather used smaller and put 3.) Push pop rivots from the outside of the
hinge arm inwards to LCD.
step 12
mind you dont wont to block the holes for the screws. You will now have
to drill through the back of the hinge out the bracket the small holes for
the original screws to fit. Then bore the front face of the bracket with
a 3/16" bit (unless you have the exact size bit for head to recess
so the screws will reach through) Go SLOW! DONT over drill, you do not
want to go into the hinge at all!
step 13
down the pop rivots smooth on the LCD side of the arm. Then, although
I didnt do this on mine because I wanted it to have the most strength,
you may want to so the face bezel fits completely closed when you
snap it back on later in step 16. Grind down the top edge of the front
face of the bracket to the top of the hinge.
step 14
to see if it fits correctly. Push the hinge to the fully open position very
carefully so it lines up the top cover holes. If you used 2" brackets and
it lined up the same as mine you should only have to use a razor and cut
out 1 little plastic mount clip from the cover casing. At this point before
cutting I would take out the 2 screws on the right hinge sidearm and
remove the LCD screen put down some paper towels and lay it on the
keyboard. You may have to loosen the bottom right hinge screws to
get the clearance tounscrew side screws. I would put back the top
screw on the right arm into the LCD top and bottom hinge screws to
maintain a true shape before next steps.
step 15
will effect how you do this step. I had all 3 broken off, so I put
the 3 screws in place and tightened the brass contact points snuggly
to the hinge. Next cut the HP warranty-voiding insulating mylar so
you can access the set points easily. Put a piece of paper or plastic
under the join point, just incase you have overglue. Now mix up the
small batch of epoxy and apply around the set points. This is critical
that you dont over glue because the LCD screen wont fit into chassis.
Now put your hinge back into place, quickly screw the top of arm into
laptop cover. Hold the corner of screen in correct position using the
keboard as a guide so gap is same while the epoxy sets. If your epoxy
is squeezed out into the LCD area use the razor blade and remove the
excess glue before it sets hard.
step 16
the 2 top screws holding the arms to the cover. Put the 2 left & right
side screws into LCD screen. Make sure all the contact points and
webcam, etc are lined up.
step 17
with a razor, smooth to the bezel. If you did grind down the face of
the bracket against the hinge edge, when you snap the face bezel
back it should close back like new or if you didnt you will have a very
unnoticable gap in side, but will be stronger over long term. I dont
know how long this will last I only did this yesterday (4/17/08) but
seems to be working fine.
step 18final step
bezel into the laptop casing, then put the 5 rubber sticky pads
back on and you are done. Hope it worked out for you!

How to Replace a Keyboard Key for a Toshiba Satellite A15
Step 1: Orient the hinges
There are two plastic hinge mechanisms must be oriented as shown to fit into the base of the keyboard.
Hook the plastic tab on one side of a hinge under the socket on the base of the keyboard. In this example, the bottom of the left hinge is being put into place first.
Squeezing the other side of the hinge, tuck the remaining plastic tab into the base of the keyboard. You will probably need a tool to do this, like a pair of needle-nose pliers. Repeat steps two and three for the second hinge on the other side. To fit the key on easily, make sure both hinges are moved out from the center, all the way back into their sockets.
If your keyboard is missing the rubber spring piece, place it in the center of the hinge. It will be held in place by the surrounding key and hinge.
Align the key on top of its place on the keyboard, and press down evenly. All four corners of the key should click into place.

How to Repair a Laptop when You Have No Virus Protection
1, Download and burn an Ubuntu LiveCD at the following link: http://www.ubuntu.com/getubuntu/download
2, Ubuntu is a free Linux based operating system which can be used without installing, because it’s a Linux Operating system you will nullify the chance of any of the viruses spreading.
3, Boot from the cd and just say you want to try Ubuntu without installing.
4, You will get a screen quite similar to your regular windows screen. The difference is the start button appears at the top of the screen.
5, Connect your remote storage device. An external hard drive is recommended, a USB stick or an MP3 player or something along those lines will also be able to do the trick. The external hard drive however is usually bigger so you can store more data.
6, Click on places in the start menu and open both the hard drive of the laptop and the external hard drive.
7, Browse in your hard drive and search for the files you still want to keep, and copy them to your hard drive. Please only copy data files such as pictures, text, spreadsheets, videos, etc. Avoid saving any programs because viruses can infect them.
8, Once everything is backed up you will need to re-install your operating system of preference. If you like Ubuntu you can even install Ubuntu now. Look at the related articles on how to install XP or Vista.
9, Once your operating system is installed, install a virus scanner. Some prefer AVAST because it is a good program, and they offer a home version for free.
10, Plug in your remote storage device and scan it for viruses as its still possible there are viruses in the files you backed up. This is just to be safe.
11, Once you copy your data back to the laptop, take the time to create a complete backup. This will save you hours of time and frustration. There are several good online backup solutions. We use Carbonite which costs less than $50.00 a year and will let you back up multiple computers.
While installing a the operating system make sure you do a clean full installation. This means you will start from scratch.
Software installed on your PC might be lost unless its included in windows itself. You might want to check for program names etc to reinstall before you reinstall your operating system, a great place to do this is the software tab under control panel. Only write down the ones which you know as some of the programs between there may be useless.
Note:
By following this guide you will lose everything on your computer that isn 't backed up properly, this includes drivers so some pieces of hardware like sound cards and video cards might not work properly or at all after this. If you don 't know what you are doing go to the nearest IT-shop and explain the situation. It will cost u a fair amount of money but at least you will be sure its done properly. Go to a PC-store AFTER you backed up the data, as they will hardly ever will back-up files. Just say you want them to reinstall windows and the needed drivers.

Make VoIP Calls on a Pocket PC Using Express Talk.
1), Download Express Talk for Pocket PC.
2), Once you have downloaded the setup.exe to your PC or Mac you will need to install it on your mobile device.
3), When the application has been installed on the mobile device you are ready to make calls.
4), You can make free VoIP calls if you are connecting to someone else with a softphone installed on their PC or Mac.
5), To make calls to a regular phone you will need a SIP Service Provider.
6), Enter the number you want to call using the keypad on the application or you mobile device keypad and then click the green telephone button.
7), If you know that a friend has Express Talk installed on their mobile device, Mac or PC you can even "page" them with the Intercom button, like a CB radio.
With Express Talk you could potentially call someone using their internet IP but this is not usually practical. To have this you need to sign up with a SIP proxy service. This is almost always free to signup for and usually requires nothing more than an email address.
Some of the companies also provide gateway services. This means cheap phone calls to ordinary lines. They are particularly cheap for international calls since you only pay the local call rates.
Want to utilize the cheap rates of VoIP (Voice Over IP) from your mobile device. If you have a Pocket PC or a device that uses Windows Mobile with an Internet/Network connection you can now make calls via VoIP with Express Talk's "Pocket Talk" application.
Note:Pocket Talk allows you to trial the application for 14 days before a license is required. Apparently a freeware version will be made available soon.

DELL Inspiron E1505 Laptop Keyboard
1, Choose a small and compact (as much as your laptop allows) laptop bag.
2, If there are different colors available, choose a feminine alternative to the normal boring black.
3, Add a dash of color on one corner of the bag. This could be a cute sticker, or a snazzy pattern. Fabric paint is always an option, or there is some fantastic trim at any fabric store that you could either sew on or even hot glue it on. A stencil and some fabric paint is also another option.
4, Tie some decorative hangings to the zipper.
5, Embellish the handle and the shoulder strap, which gives it a very smart look.
6, Keep your bag clean and organized. It should not just look good, but be handy, too.
Note:If you use the laptop for business, make sure that the colors of the bag are solid and not very jazzy; it should not look out of place when you carry your bag into a boardroom meeting or client presentation.
Your laptop bag should reflect your style statement. Stickers could be flowers or cartoons characters. hearts, stars, swirls, and cute animals can do wonders

How to Install Windows XP on a Windows Vista Laptop
I. Removing Vista and setting up XP
1, Back up the files you want to save. If you have any pictures or documents you want to keep, or programs that are hard to find, write them to a FLASH drive, CD, floppy, or external hard disk. Do this because everything on your hard disk will be destroyed during the process of installing Windows XP.
2, Enter your BIOS and configure the computer to boot from CD ROM.
3, Insert the Windows XP CD and boot to it. Wait for it to finish loading the setup files.
4, Format the C: drive when it prompts you to do so. Select the C: partition and set it up as an NTFS file system.
5, Start the installation after the disk is formatted. Follow the on-screen instructions and choose the settings that you like.
6, Continue to follow these instructions and change things as you need. When it comes to the screen prompting for a product ID, get your CD case and look at the yellow label on the back. That's what it wants. Type it in accurately!
7, When you get to Windows XP itself, run Windows Update to update everything you can. Get your software you want and reinstall it, and put pack your pictures and documents or whatever else you saved.
8,You finished putting your computer back together with Windows XP!
II. Optimizing your computer's performance
1, Either reinstall the anti-virus software that came with your laptop, install your old anti-virus, or find another that you like. (Look at external links for suggested anti-virus)
2, Decide on an alternate web browser for your computer rather than Internet Explorer. (Look at external links for suggested web browser(s))
3, Find a registry cleaner to clean up your registry and temporary files that take up a lot of space and slow down your computer. (Look at external links for suggested registry cleaner)
4, Use the registry cleaner. Follow the onscreen instructions for how to use it, it's different with each.
5, Defragment your hard disk. Most registry cleaners will do this for you, or you can use the one included with Windows (START + PROGRAMS + ACCESSORIES + DISK DEFRAGMENTER).
6, Run a virus scan and delete any virii found.
7, Empty the recycle bin.
8, Uninstall any programs you no longer use.
9, Run the desktop cleanup wizard. It can be found in the display properties.
10, Repeat steps 4 - 8 in this section every two weeks to one month.
Note
You must be ABSOLUTELY SURE you have backed up all of the files you want to save before formatting your hard disk! EVERYTHING on the disk will be DESTROYED!!!
If you don't have the right product ID for the CD, don't do this. You'll save yourself a lot of trouble if you have it with you before you attempt to install it.
Your computer may not be willing to accept a LINUX OS.
If you don't know what you're doing and don't feel comfortable, don't start. If you do start, just go with the default settings in the setup menu.
Consult a computer-savvy friend to explain things to you that you don't understand.
You can go with another operating system as well. Try LINUX or UNIX for a change, or try OS/2 WARP, maybe you can set up a multi-boot to change between these OS's.
It's a good idea to back up your registry before cleaning it.
Don't hesitate to PM any of the authors of this article for help!
If you want a better OS than Windows, but still want the same interface, try using a skins program on another OS. If you're going with LINUX, get KDE Linux, and if you want it as much like XP as possible, try Linux XP.

1, Figure out how much your budget really is. What can you afford? From one side, a computer is a long-term investment and not a quick fix. But, from another side, it is likely not a very long time investment - laptops are rather difficult to upgrade and last shorter than desktop machines.
2, Specify your needs. What are you going to use the computer for? Homework, games, internet, email etc.
3, Look for manufacturers. Which company do you want to buy from?
4, Seek out discounts and deals. If you or your parents have a job in a company that deals with computers find out if their company gets discounts through manufacturers. Many companies get discounts through DELL, HP, Compaq, Gateway, Apple because they buy a lot of computers and software through these companies. If you are a college student or high school student, find out if there is any financial aid or programs that offer computers to students. (the laptop you get may not be new but you might get it for free)
5, If you are going to go out and buy one from a store make sure you have your specifications written down. (keeps the pushy sales people off of you)
6, When evaluating a new laptop, check how intensively the fan is working. If the fan is running at full speed near all the time, after a couple of years you will need to clean the heat sink.
7, Check out CNET and other tech websites for reviews on laptop manufacturers and their hardware.
8, Purchase the laptop online, usually it's cheaper to buy and there are no pushy sales people.
9, If battery life isn't important to you (maybe you want to run it off the mains) consider buying one second hand.
If you follow steps 1-7 you will get exactly what you need.
If you plan to use this for gaming make sure the laptop has a high quality video card, otherwise your games will be very slow. Low-end laptops generally are not good gaming machines for that reason, and they can't be upgraded for better video as desktops usually can.
Use Linux and free/open-source software. There are very user-friendly distributions. The software is free, and it requires fewer hardware resources; in most cases older hardware is cheaper. If you have older hardware, compatibility is less of a problem.
Note
Only purchase software you will need.
Make sure you look at the store's warranty and return policies.
Don't overdo searching the best possible laptop for the cheapest possible price. After investing a lot of time you may end up buying a model with some hidden factory design problems which is far not as good as it looks like. For instance, there were models in the past where a "fast" processor was causing frequent cut-offs due to overheating.
Build a Laptop Desk
Here is an idea for a combination Laptop Carrying case and Laptop Desk that solves two problems. 1. A way to carry a laptop safely and 2. "Hot Lap" syndrome which comes from too little ventilation of the hard-drive when the laptop is sitting on a lap.
1, Obtain the needed supplies.
2, Measure your laptop and cut the following from plywood
Two pieces of plywood that are the size of your laptop plus two inches in length and 2 inches in width.
Two pieces of plywood that are the thickness of your laptop plus two inches and the width of your laptop plus two inches.
Four pieces of solid wood. Make these from two pieces of solid wood which are the thickness of your laptop plus 1.75 inches and the length of your laptop plus 1.5 inches. Cut them on the diagonal to form four long, narrow, right-triangles.
3, Cut ventilation slots from the two large pieces of plywood.
4, Drill/cut slots in the "top" piece of plywood to allow for a strap to hold your laptop securely in place within the box/briefcase/carrying case.
5, Sand all surfaces and edges smooth.
6, Glue and screw the right-triangles to the edges of each side of your case.
7, Glue and screw the carrying edge to the top.
8, Screw on the handle.
9, Screw on the hinge(s), checking for maneuverability. The hinges must be able to swing 270 degrees back on themselves to form the "desk".
10, After test-fit and adjustments at this point, attach the latches and test their secureness.
11, Paint / seal the exterior with whatever colors you like or have on hand.
11, Paint / seal the interior.
12, Place padding along the interior - but do not place padding under the computer.
13, Strap the laptop into the case. Check for ability to open the laptop fully.

How to Save a Wet Cell Phone
1, Get it out of the water as soon as possible.
The plastic covers on cell phones are fairly tight, but water can enter the phone in a short period of time, perhaps only 20 seconds or less. So grab your phone quickly! If you can't get to it in time, your best bet is to remove the battery while it is still under water. Water helps dissipate heat from shorts that can damage the phone, so most damage occurs when the inside of the phone is merely wet and there is a power source.
2, Don't Panic.
Your phone will probably not be too damaged if you right away take it out of the water. While it's in the water, immediately take it out.
3, Remove the battery.
This is one of the most important steps. Don't take time to think about it; electricity and water do not mix. Cutting power to your phone is a crucial first step in saving it. Many circuits inside the phone will survive immersion in water provided they are not attached to a power source when wet.
4, If you have a GSM carrier, remove your SIM card.
Some or all of your valuable contacts (along with other data) could be stored on your SIM. To some people this could be more worth saving than the phone itself. SIM cards survive water damage well, but some of the following steps are unnecessary i.e. don't heat it. Just pat it dry and leave it aside until you need to connect your phone to your cellular network. (This step does not apply to CDMA carriers such as Verizon, Alltel, US Cellular, Sprint, etc.)
5, Dry your phone.
Obviously you need to remove as much of the water as soon as possible, so you can save it from getting into the phone. Shake it out without dropping it, then use a towel or paper towel (ideally trying not to clog the wet paper in the gaps and grooves of the phone) to gently remove as much of the remaining water as possible. Dry the excess moisture by hand.
6, Remove any covers and external connectors to open up as many gaps, slots, and crevices in the phone as possible.
7, Use a vacuum cleaner if possible.
Do not use a hair dryer (even on a "cold" mode) to dry out the phone, as this may force moisture further into the small components, deep inside the phone. If moisture is driven deeper inside, corrosion and oxidation may result when minerals from liquids are deposited on the circuitry. Using a hairdryer might be a temporary fix, but this will eventually cause component failure inside the phone. Instead, remove all residual moisture by drawing it away with a vacuum cleaner held over the affected areas for up to 20 minutes in each accessible area. This is the fastest method and can completely dry out your phone and get it working in thirty minutes. Be careful not to hold the vacuum too close to the phone, as a vacuum can create static electricity, which is even worse.
8, Use a substance with a high affinity for water to help draw out moisture.
Leave the phone in a bowl or bag of uncooked rice overnight. The rice would absorb any remaining moisture. If available, it is preferable to use desiccant instead. Desiccant will absorb moisture better than rice. It may be found under a brand name such as the "BHEESTIE Bag™" "DRY-ALL" "Damp Rid" or "Dry Right".
9, Let the phone sit on absorbent towels, napkin, or other paper. Remember that the goal is to evacuate all the moisture and humidity, not to trap it or add even more. Check the absorbent material every hour for 4 to 6 hours. If moisture is evident, repeat the vacuuming step and desiccant steps.
10, Test your phone.
After you have waited a day or so, make sure everything is clean and dry looking and re-attach the battery to the phone and see if it works. If your phone does not work, try plugging it into its charger without the battery, if this works, you need a new battery. If not, try taking your cell phone to an authorized dealer. Sometimes they can fix it. Don't try to hide the fact that it has been wet. There are internal indicators that prove moisture.
11, Take the phone apart.
If your phone doesn't turn on at all. Try taking it apart. First, make sure that you have ALL the right parts and know exactly where they go. Be sure to put everything back in its proper place once finished. As you're disassembling it, pat each individual part dry with a small towel and use the vacuum cleaner once more on the crevices. If this doesn't work go to the professionals.

Battery Failure Indicators
1, The usable time after recharging is shortened.
2, The battery becomes unusually warm during a recharge cycle.
3, The battery becomes unusually warm during phone use.
4, The battery case often is swollen. This is detectable by feeling and viewing the inside/phone-side of the battery case. Also, when the battery is placed inside/phone-side down on a flat, smooth surface, it will rock and will sustain a spin motion. 5,The case of a healthy battery is flat and will not sustain a spin motion.
5, The battery develops a hard spot. This is detectable on the inside/phone-side surface of the battery by gently pinching about the surface between one's fingers.
How to Lengthen the Life of Batteries Without Recharging
Take the batteries out of the socket.
Place the batteries between your hands.
Rub your hands together as if you were warming them on a snowy day. Almost any chemical reaction proceeds faster when warmer.
Place the batteries back in the socket.
If you're at home, placing them in the refrigerator is supposed to help, and sometimes it does.
Storing the batteries in the fridge will help lengthen the shelf life, and thus their life when you finally use them.
It is best to replace older rechargeable Ni/Cd batteries as their ability to store electrical energy decreases with age and use.
If you only need a little bit of battery life, then shaking it may give them that last little bit of juice. (This will only work for a very short time.)
Note
Do not install a battery backwards as hydrogen can build and damage can result.
Do not leave a battery in a device if you do not intend to use it for an extended amount of time as the battery could leak and cause damage to the device.

How to Make Your Keyboard Look Good and Smell Clean.
Not that anyone will be smelling your keyboard! But this is an easy way to quickly clean your keyboard as well as make it smell fresh. This is typically for people who use their computer a lot and then as a result, the keyboard gets dusty and smells funny.
1, Wipe Down: Use some type of wipe or wash cloth just to wipe down your keyboard. Be aware that the wipe or wash cloth should not be drippping wet, but dampened enough to remove dirt and grime. Make sure that you get into all of the cracks and corners.
2, Remove Dust: Get your vacuum cleaner and use the small attachment to swipe up dust from your keyboard. Gently rub it over the keyboard. If you do not have a vacuum cleaner or a small attachment, then you can use a Q-tip and rub it in and out of the cracks of your keyboard to remove dust. Another great way is to use and old toothbrush or paint brush instead of a Q-Tip because they both can clean better.
3, Spray Your Fragrance: Find your favoite frangrance and spritz it twice over your keyboard and then let it dry. This will make your keyboard smell great while your typing and it lasts a very long time.

Toshiba Keyboard:Tecra Series, Tecra A1, Tecra A2, Tecra A3, Tecra A4, Tecra A5, Tecra M1, Tecra M2, Tecra M3, Tecra M4, Tecra S1, Tecra S2, Tecra S3, QOSMIO Series, QOSMIO E10, QOSMIO E15, QOSMIO F15, QOSMIO G10, QOSMIO G15, Satellite S1130, Satellite S205, Satellite P10, Satellite P20, Satellite P25, Satellite P30, Satellite P35, Satellite M50, Satellite M55, Satellite M40, Satellite M40x, Satellite M45, Satellite M35x Series, Satellite M35X-S109, Satellite M35X-S149, Satellite M35X-S1491, Satellite M35X-S309, Satellite M35X-S3091, Satellite M35X-S329, Satellite M35X-S3291, Satellite M35X-S349, Satellite M35X-S3491, Satellite M35X-SP349, Satellite M35 Series, Satellite M35-S320, Satellite M35-S359, Satellite M35-S3591, Satellite M35-S3592, Satellite M35-S456, Satellite M35-S4561, Satellite A10 Series
2, Take care of your mouse. Do not pick it up and drop it, especially if you have a digital mouse, as this can move the sensor out of place. Clean your ball mouse if you have one:
Turn your ball mouse upside-down and unscrew the cap;
Take out the ball;
Take a toothpick, cotton swab, or your finger, and clean off the three (3) small long rings inside of your ball mouse. Turn each ring slowly several times to make sure there is nothing left on the rings.
Replace parts and use the ball mouse again.
3, Take care of your speakers. When turning up volume, do it gently. Make sure the speakers are away from edges, so that they do not fall off the sides, which can badly damage them. Keep them away from heat sources as well.
4, Take care of your monitor. Make sure you have your screen saver turned on. If you use your computer often, consider setting the time to two-three (2-3) minutes before the screen saver comes on. Clean your screen at least once a week. Other ways to keep the monitor in good condition include:
Turn off your monitor at night or when not in use.
Take a window spray, such as Windex, and lightly spray it on your screen.
Immediately wipe screen vertically with a newspaper, or any other soft cloth that you may prefer. (Do not use paper towels, as they can scratch the screen, and small pieces can break off which, if not removed immediately, dry on your screen.)
5, Clean the computer. Use an appropriate cleaning product, such as a can of dust remover to spray to clean your computer parts. Parts should include: mouse, keyboard, speakers, modem, etc. To spray the mouse, simply remove the cap and spray in the hole for three-five (3-5) seconds. To spray the keyboard, simply turn your keyboard upside down and gently shake for several seconds. This will remove any large debris that may have gotten caught in your keyboard. Then simply tilt your keyboard at a 45 degree angle, and spray down each row of keys.
6, Clean out your modem.
Shut down your computer completely.
Remove all cords from the back from the modem.
Remove the outside casing from your computer. Look in your computer manual for further instructions on how to do this.
Spray all chips and parts in your computer. Warning: do not touch the chips with your hands, as this can badly damage them. If easily accessible, use dry cotton swabs to clean the fans and metal casings.
Replace all parts and cords, and start your computer.
7, Protect your computer. If you have small children in the house, you should always keep your computer up high and away from the edges, so that there are no dangers of any parts falling on them. If you cannot place your computer out of the way of small children, place a small child-safety fence in all doorways surrounding the computer, or a small fence around your computer/computer desk.
